New download available for Troi Serial Plug-in 3.2

Updated example files in the .fmp12 format for FileMaker Pro 12 and 13

April 13th, 2015, Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands--Troi Automatisering today announced the availability of a new download for Troi Serial Plug-in 3.2 for FileMaker Pro 12 and 13.

What is Troi Serial Plug-in?

Troi Serial Plug-in gives FileMaker Pro easy and powerful access to external devices with a serial interface:

• Read from and write to the (virtual) serial ports of the computer directly from FileMaker Pro without the need of a separate application.
• Native FileMaker script triggering, to get incoming data into the database.
• "Serial_Control" function to temporarily suspend the incoming data stream and resume it when you are interested in the data.
• "Wait for Match" function to wait for a specific text before triggering.
• The possibility to open an unlimited number of serial ports and to trigger different scripts for different ports.

What is new in version 3.2.0.1?

The new download version 3.2.0.1 contains updated example files in the .fmp12 format for FileMaker 12 and 13. Variables are used to make the scripts more portable. Troi Serial Plug-in itself is still at version 3.2.

Availability

The new 3.2.0.1 download can be obtained from http://www.troi.com/software/serialplugin.html. The download contains the new example files and a fully functional demo version of Troi Serial Plug-in 3.2.

Troi Serial Plug-in 3.2 works with FileMaker Pro 8 to 13. The plug-in can also be used with runtimes created by FileMaker Pro Advanced 8 to 13. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.4.5 or higher, Windows XP (SP 2), Windows Vista and Windows 7 and 8.x.

FileMaker Server requirements

Troi Serial Plug-in 3.2 also works with FileMaker Server 9 to 12 as a server-side plug-in and as a plug-in used by the web publishing engine. Version 3.2 is not 64-bit compatible and will therefore not work with FileMaker Server 12 CWP, FileMaker Server 13 and FileMaker Server 13 WebDirect.

We have created a 64-bit page on our web-site where you'll find more information regarding compatibility of all Troi Plug-ins with FileMaker running in 64-bit mode. We are working on new versions of our plug-ins and when we release new 64-bit compatible versions we will provide information there.
