Troi Automatisering releases Troi File Plug-in 5.5.1 for FileMaker Pro 11

Updated File Plug-in for FileMaker Pro 11 improves support for OS X Lion.

Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands, July 25th, 2011--Troi Automatisering today officially announces the immediate availability of Troi File Plug-in 5.5.1 for FileMaker Pro 11.

What is Troi File Plug-in?

Troi File Plug-in is a very powerful tool for getting access to information outside the FileMaker Pro database. Any files or folders stored on the computer can be accessed through the functions of the plug-in. All from within FileMaker Pro you can:

• get data from files that are on the disk of the computer into FileMaker Pro
• create files anywhere on the hard disk and put data from FileMaker fields into them
• manipulate files and folders on the disk: this includes creating, deleting, copying, moving and modifying files and folders
• get the size on disk, creation and modification dates and much more
• launch and reveal files directly from FileMaker Pro
• manage your images and movies, and read IPTC and Exif metadata from JPEG and RAW images

What is new in version 5.5.1?

Troi File Plug-in 5.5.1 is a maintenance update of our file manipulation plug-in. The new version 5.5.1 improves further on compatibility with Mac OS X Lion. It also improves the speed of the powerful recursive listing of files and folders with just one call to the plug-in. This update includes these improvements:

• Fixed a bug with TrFile_ListDisks function when running on OS X Lion (10.7): the plug-in no longer returns two incorrect disk names.
• Fixed a bug with TrFile_ListFolder function and the "-Recursive" switch: the plug-in now correctly handles folders containing an extreme large number of items (directly at that folder level), for example a folder with 100.000 individual files in that folder.
• Significantly improved the speed of the TrFile_ListFolder function (up to 5 times faster).
• Improved the TrFile_ListFolder function and the "-Recursive" switch: the plug-in now by default encodes filenames which contain a forward slash "/": slashes are substituted with "%2F". This is the same as how native FileMaker style paths are handled and also makes it possible to differentiate from the folder separator.

Troi File Plug-in 5.5.1 works with FileMaker Pro 9, 10 and 11. The plug-in can also be used with runtimes from FileMaker Pro Advanced 9, 10 or 11. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.5.7 or higher, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
QuickTime 7 or later is needed for some image related functions.

FileMaker Server requirements

Troi File Plug-in 5.5.1 also works with FileMaker Server 9, 10 or 11 as a server-side plug-in and as a plug-in used by the web publishing engine. To use this, you need to purchase a special cross-platform Server/Web license which costs US$ 399.

Upgrade information

Users who bought a license for Troi File Plug-in on or after June 21st, 2010 are entitled to a free upgrade to version 5.5.x. Eligible users have been sent a new registration string.

Upgrades from licenses bought before June 21st, 2010, are available from US$ 49 per user.
