December 19th, 2005, Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands--Troi Automatisering today announced the availability of the 2.0b1 version of the Troi Activator Plug-in for FileMaker Pro 8. What is the Activator Plug-in? The Activator Plug-in is a very powerful tool for triggering scripts across the network, even over the Internet. All from within FileMaker you can: trigger a FileMaker script on a different client computer trigger a FileMaker script over the Internet run a script and send data to a different FileMaker application, all in the background use the built-in security to prevent unauthorized triggering send a number (e.g. a record ID) and a long text with the trigger start and stop listening for remote trigger messages with one script step Apart from remote triggering you can also trigger scripts on the same computer: trigger a script on a specified date and time schedule events which trigger any script you want trigger a script after exiting a field validate fields with a custom script suited to your specific validation needs Peter Baanen, company president, states: "Finally we have a FileMaker Pro 8 version of our versatile script trigger plug-in. As it is a FileMaker 7 native plug-in, it can also run with FileMaker Pro 7!" New Features Troi Activator Plug-in 2.0b1 adds these new functions and features: The plug-in is completely rewritten for FileMaker 7 and 8. It has been converted to the external function API of FileMaker Pro 7. All functions now support Unicode characters. The plug-in uses the built-in triggering of the new FileMaker API, making it more robust. You can specify data to be returned as the script parameter of a script. Suggested Uses The Activator allows you to: create a real-time appointment solution, where you can notify a colleague (on a different computer) of changes in his/her appointments notify a user that a shared document can be used process data in the background in a different FileMaker application get someone out of a record, so that it is no longer locked All these features also work in a runtime solution and between different versions of FileMaker Pro. Troi Activator Plug-in 2.0b1 works with FileMaker Pro 7 and 8. The plug-in can also be used with runtimes from FileMaker Developer 7 or with FileMaker Advanced 8. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.3.9, Mac OS X 10.4.2 or higher and Windows 2000 (Service Pack 6) or Windows XP. Licenses cost US$ 89 per user. The registration you receive after paying the license fee will work with version 2.0b1 as well as with the classic Activator 1.5 for FileMaker 6, which was just released too.
